An open payments platform, built in Africa
What we do
SWIPA runs collections and payouts across M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Pesalink, RTGS and EFT, reconciles them against provider statements automatically, and reverses what fails. Businesses get accounts they can read, statements their auditors accept, and an API that does everything the dashboard does.
Who we serve
Two kinds of customer use the same platform. Merchants collect from their customers and pay their staff, suppliers and bills. Tenants are businesses with sub-merchants under them — branches, subsidiaries, sellers or partners, in one or more markets — sharing one dashboard, with segregated balances and per-merchant statements. Services, fees and pricing are set by SWIPA and visible to the tenant and to each merchant.
Why open
Payments infrastructure fails businesses when it hides things. Ours is deliberately open: open APIs, so nothing is reserved for internal use; open configuration, so accounts, rails and reconciliation rules are yours to change and SWIPA-set services, fees and pricing are always readable; and open connections, so you can bring your own provider contracts instead of being locked into ours.
Where we operate
SWIPA is live in Kenya as a licensed payment service provider under Central Bank of Kenya oversight. Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa are in provider integration and regulatory review; when they open, the API surface stays the same.
How we hold money
Customer funds are held separately from our operating funds and reconciled daily against the ledger. Tenant, merchant and SWIPA money never share an account. We are assessed to PCI DSS Level 1 annually, and every request, key, user and permission change is logged.
